While in the summer holidays I have been gathering ideas for my media music video, doing pieces of coursework has helped me put ideas together which are taken from locations which I have travelled to and linked them with my video, and every day locations such as bedrooms, houses which will put the narrative together and give it a more realistic feel that I am going for. By going to certain places in the holidays gave me more visual ideas for the video, but due to the song I have chosen I have decided not to use iconic landmarks and keep the video simple.
Using my research in coursework has helped me explore different types of music videos, popular music videos which I have noted down in my iconic Music video stills also helped me to put together different ideas, obviously it would be difficult for me to make some of the videos I have found in the iconic music videos because I have limited amount of time, money and equipment to be able to get my video as professional looking as some, I also do not have as much experience in making music videos but with practise I will be able to create a more authentic look.
By looking at various locations it gave me different ideas about my music videos and linking the locations and mise en scene to the lyrics of the song. Also by having locations around me I am able to see what locations are available to me and which are more accessible to shoot a video in.
After all my research I decided on two songs, both are very similar because they both have dub step music in them, the first one I thought of was Adele – Someone like you remix, I decided on the remix because it has a faster beat which I can add a better narrative to, the second song I would like to do was Chase and status – time, I would prefer to do this one as it has more lyrics which I can add a wider range of narrative.
Overall I decided to choose chase and status because I can make a story with the lyrics and keep it simple but also have an authentic look, I will also not need to do many close ups with the artist singing which I would prefer not to do because it may be difficult keeping the song person singing in sync with the words, and would prefer to make it like a story.
