I my music video planning with making a resource audit, this is just gathering all my inital ideas and putting tem together. I have included the actors/actresses that would be suitable to star in my video. Resource audit also allowed me to think of locations as well as other ideas that i had previously thought about. Once having them put onto a document i was able to look back when i needed inspiration.
06/7/2011 - Research
Doing reserach is necessary as i would need to understand the background for making a music video, for each practical peice of work; such as my music video i will also need to research the theory side of making a music video. By finding research about music videos it would give me a greater insight to why they are so important and how they have evolved over time and how the demand of music videos have become more popular. By finding information out about music videos it would also help me when creating my own music video as i would know different types of music videos and which ones are more popular.
06/07/2011 - Digi Packs
For my coursework i also needed to do further research into my music videos and the additional work which is needed when creating a music video, such as digi packs which are mainly used for promotional purposes. I evaluated 3 different style digi packs, the first one i evaulated was Britney Spears, as this was one of her first releases it was used for promotional purposes as it is quite a simple and upbeat with a picture of her which is so the audience can recognise her easily.
The second cover i evalutaed was Rhianna - Loud which has a more sexy and passionate feel as most of the images are close ups, and focus on her lips. The main colour used in this digi pack is red - red connotates love and passion also conbining the roses and
20/07/2011 - Planning music posters
I also need to do additional planning for the promotional side of making a music video, which includes researching into the background of music posters, this will help me because i am able to find out different types of music posters, include goodwins theory and what makes a good appealing musiv poster. I evaluated 3 different types of music posters which are all fairly different to eachother. While evaluating these music posters i also looked into the deeper meanings of the music posters and the symbolisims they use.
20/07/2011 - Coursework Brief
As i was unorganised at the begining process of making my music video this caused me to miss work, the coursework breif is the initial plan for the project. This is usually what i would do before i start a project, it states the things that i aim to do in my coursework and the reasons why i chose to do it.
05/09/2011 - Location reccie
In my music video i need to decide on places where i would like to shoot my video, as i am keeping the music video simple and realistic the places are not too far fetched. I am using simple places such as a bedroom as i will be filming at my house and local places such a tube stations. I have decided not to use too many different locations as it may take away the effect of my original theme time.
6/09/2011 - 10 iconic music videos
In this part of my planning i needed to find 10 different iconic music videos. There as some famous ones which are very popular and others which arnt as popular, i feel that all of these videos represent something more that just purley images that go with a song, or they have played a big part in changing music videos over time.
06/09/2011 - Song Lyric Analysis
After making a final decision of what song i have chosen to make my video for i needed to make a song lyric analysis, which is taking the lyrics and describing what i thought they ment. This helped me alot because when making my music video i would need to link the lyrics to the visuals, by doing this it helped me build a story with in my head of what i wanted my video to look like while linking it with the lyrics.
07/09/2011 - Holiday Diary
Over the summer holidays i needed to do little bits of work to help me with my music video; such as location reccie, while travelling around alot it gave me ideas of places which would suit my video. I needed to include a dairy of what i done in the holidays and things i have thought about which has contributed to my music video.

A project proposal is needed once i have completed most of my planning, this is simular to a coursework breif but now i know more about music videos and more about my own music video and what i am going to do for it i needed to make a more detailed proposal about why i chose the specific song, whats its about, a bit of information about the song and what type of video i will create.

I needed to make a mind map to put all my ideas down together, i have different ideas for different parts of my music video, i have added music video ideas, which are just overall ideas which i would want the video to look like, i have included soaps such as eastenders, the reason i chose ideas like this is because i am keeping my music video realistic. i also included mise en scene and props and costume ideas.

21/09/2011 - Music Poster Draft
I needed to make darfts of my music poster, so i have an idea of what i wanted it to look like, i put it together using photoshop as i will be using this for most of planning; including making my digi pack , ive kept it quite simple to link with the song and the video. At this stage of my planning i just need complete the final peices which are needed for my work before making the music video, such things as music posters are needed for promotional reasons and advertisement to make the public aware.
21/09/2011 - Album Cover Draft
This is just an idea for my album cover i put together quickly, as i have a theme for the song which is time i have decided to make a collage of clocks, for my draft i found different clocks online, for my actual cover i am going to collect pictures of different clocks from different places which i have taken pictures off. i have not yet decided on final ideas for the cover but i would also like to include the artists face somewhere with in the music video.
21/09/2011 - Contents Draft
for the inside of my digi pack i will need to include contents, once again i have kept this quite simple and just used a simple white clock with white and black background, i have not yet made a draft for the other side of the digi pack as i will need two pages, although i have ideas, as have a clock on the first page with the contents i am going to include a credits page, on this side i will have the identical clock but will be smashed - symbolising the time has stopped.
26/09/2011 - Completing Diary
Today i needed to add all the diary posts which i have missed when making my music video. i needed to go back on the work i have completed and analyse what i have done. This is needed in my planning as i will have to describe what i am doing, also i will include my thoughts on the process when making a music video.
10/10/2011 - Storyboarding and Animatic
In the last week I have created my story board and animatic. I firstly needed to draw up pictures of what I wanted the video to look like it, once I had completed that I loaded the pictures onto the computer and put them onto a storyboard then analysed it. I also added point’s and details to the story board such as describing the shot and how long the shot would last for. Once I created my storyboard I need to put the individual pictures on to premiere so I was able to see how well they fitted with the time and the lyrics of the song. This helped me a lot as I was able to see that I can add more ideas to the music video as the clips are too long and some last around 20seconds, which compared with another music video most clips last around 5-10seconds. Although parts of my song are slow this may help me with the lengths of my shots as they will fit the tone of the music video.
31/10/11 – Half TermOver the half term I completed final parts of my planning, for my Digi pack I needed to collect pictures of clocks which fits with my theme, to make it more interesting I travelled into London and took pictures of clocks in different locations, I captured Big Ben the most iconic clock in London and other clocks in various places. Travelling around London also gave me more ideas on where to shoot my music videos and interesting locations. Now most of my planning has been completed I am ready to create my music video. Today I have been organising my first shoot with the actress, the date and the times, once we have arranged a date when we are both avaliable and organised it with the school we will be able begin. The first shoot will take place in school as I will need to use green screen.
